Sound proof mats.
The primary use of mats is to absorb airborne noise not impact noise. Mats are suitable for all manner of sound proofing work owing to the fact that they can be fixed to almost any surface. They have very good sound absorbing qualities and can be used on their own or in conjunction witth other types of sound proofing materials. Multiple layer composite sound proofing can be very effective utilizing such materials as acoustic board, foam, uderlay and carpet. You can use mats to increase the sound reducing properties of plasterboard, ceilings, wood partitions, thin walls and wooden floors. The installation of mats is very simple. On floors you butt them together with the joints taped using acoustic tape. Sheets should be installed from the outside of the room in so that any cutting is done to the inner sheets where possible and the outside edges use the intact edges of the mats. Additional layers should be alternated so that no seams fall on top of each other. Mats need to be firmly fixed to the floor to avoid any gaps forming as the mats are walked on. |
